Reading with Niq Mhlongo

Award-winning South African author Niq Mhlongo will be in conversation with Norman Wolf, Chairman of the parliamentary group Die LINKE in Lichtenberg on Wednesday, August 17^th in the bar interkosmos in Lichtenberg.

He will present his short story ‘For You I’d Steal a Goat’ from the short story collection ‘For You, I’d Steal a Goat’ published by Kwela Books in 2022. The short story was translated into German as ‘Für Dich würd‘ ich ’ne Ziege stehlen‘ and published by InterKontinental e.V for the upcoming African Book Festival Berlin.

Niq Mhlongo presents masterfully told stories rooted in South African life. With his characteristic keen observations and insights into human nature, he explores the things people do for each other but also to each other. In this story, he takes his readers on a ride between countries and cultures and into places, as crazy as Berlin itself.

interkosmos created special South-African inspired drinks and snacks for the event: an African Julep cocktail and a Chakalaka bowl with bread.
